Making It: Alumni Works ’05-’10 is open from Friday, October 8 to Saturday, October 23.

Recent alumni submitted over 160 works for consideration for the 2010 Making It exhibit. Forty outstanding works were selected by a distinguished jury that included Sheryl Conkelton, former director of Exhibitions and Public Programs at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, Alida Fish, Professor in the Media Arts Department and Interim Dean of the University of the Arts College of Art & Design, Hilary Jay, Executive Director of Design Philadelphia, and Blanca Gonzalez, '01 (Painting), MA '09 (Museum Communication) and Director of Academic Support Services, University of the Arts.

The NWAA presents: Visual Fringe

September 29th - October 21st


NWAA and the Fringe Wilmington Festival present: Visual Fringe, kicking off the Festival with an opening reception on Wednesday, September 29, from 5-8pm. The exhibition includes drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video, and live performance, and showcases the unconventional and experimental art of the region.

In March I began reviewing art in Philadelphia for the Artblog. Libby and Roberta are great writers and have been covering the art scene in Philadelphia and New York for years. They have gathered together a great bunch of writers to help them cover the ever-expanding Philly art scene and I am on the beat.

Summer Teaching

I will be teaching three classes this summer at UArts in their great continuing studies program. I'll be combining my old life with the new teaching Web Design I, Dreamweaver Fundamentals and Advanced Dreamweaver. I can't wait to get back in the classroom.

I completed my gradute degree in December at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. The thesis exhibition opening is December 5th from 6 to 9 at the Rosenwald-Wolf, Hamilton, and Arronsen Galleries on the UArts campus and runs through January 6th.

Eight other painters, sculptors, and ceramicists will be showing their work as well. It will be a fantastic show. Hope to see you there.

The twenty-fourth in a series of annual juried exhibitions, New American Talent features the work of emerging artists working in a variety of mediums including sculpture, painting, photography and new media. Each work on view was selected by New American Talent juror, Hamza Walker, Curator and Director of Education, The Renaissance Society, The University of Chicago. This year’s New American Talent exhibits the work of 26 artists from the United States—12 of whom currently live and work in Texas.

TEXAS NATIONAL 2009 - Mel Chin, Juror. This annual juried competition and exhibition annually attracts entrants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. It provides emerging artists an opportunity to have work juried by internationally acclaimed artists and presents new and innovative art to regional audiences.
